The Keene Chorale has a compelling musical mission: it is open to everyone, and for 45 years, the Chorale has been bringing quality choral music to audiences in Keene and throughout the Monadnock NH area. During that time, the Chorale has performed a plethora of concerts: choral concerts that featured major works by Handel, Verdi, Dvorak, and Mendelssohn; rarely performed works by Benjamin Britten and L. Nathaniel Dett (a New England premiere); and U.S. composers such as Leonard Bernstein; along with collaborations with choruses and orchestras throughout New England that culminated in last season’s exciting “road” trip to NYC’s Carnegie Hall to sing the Verdi Requiem. Its 70 choristers come from the many towns in the Monadnock region, are from all walks of life, all ages—20’s to 80’s—and they need not have experience in a choral setting. Some have sung in choirs all their lives while others are having their first choral experience as a member of the Keene Chorale. All that’s needed is a desire to sing with others.
