Church Choir: Tenor Section Leader

Immediate Need: Tenor Section Leader for First Presbyterian Church Choir of Northport 

Weekly rehearsals are on Thursdays from 7:00pm-8:30pm and weekly Service is on Sundays from 9:15am-11:15am (including warm ups, rehearsal, and service).  

PAY: $90 each rehearsal and service = $180 per week


A Section Leader should:

* Arrive early for weekly rehearsals and services. 
* Be a skilled musician able to read music well, exemplify excellent vocal technique, IPA vowels, phrasing, articulation, and diction. 
* Be able to attend most rehearsals and services from September through June. 
* Possess good interpersonal and communication skills.
* Work in conjunction with other Section Leaders.
* Be willing and able to represent FPC in a manner befitting its mission as a member of its artistic staff.


Suggested duties include, but are not limited to:

* Provide musical leadership for section (i.e. Tenor SL provides musical leadership for Tenors). Musical leadership may entail anything from answering questions such as “what songs were rehearsed last week?” to specific technical questions such as “what is our note at measure 10?” In the event that the SL is not able to answer the question, he may confer with the choral director.
* Take careful note of details in rehearsal, such as phrasing, breathing, pronunciation etc., so that exact details can be demonstrated and communicated to members.
* Effectively communicate with Choral Director and other church staff.
* Provide sight-reading assistance to those in their section. 
* Strive for personal artistic growth.
