Position Details

 

The Department of Music within the College of Arts and Letters at The University of Tampa seeks a full time appointment as a Visiting Assistant Professor of Music - Choral Director/Music Education for a one year position to begin August 2025.

 

The University of Tampa is a medium-sized, comprehensive, residentially-based private institution of more than 11,000 undergraduate and graduate students. The primary responsibilities of this position are to conduct choral ensembles and to teach music education courses. We seek a faculty member with a passion for music education, who will work to maintain a high quality collegiate choral program. The successful candidate will also be willing to participate in recruitment and outreach activities on and off campus. Additional responsibilities include teaching aural skills, choral conducting, and choral methods (depending on experience).

 

Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree in music

At least one degree in choral conducting and one degree in music education

Successful record of teaching experience in K-12 and/or college level

 

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis

 

Preferred Qualifications

Experience teaching aural skills

Demonstrated success as a music educator and choral director

Evidence of and/or commitment to outreach and recruitment

DMA in choral conducting or music education
