The Development Manager works closely with the Executive Director to meet overall fundraising goals. Oversees gift processing and acknowledgements, maintains accurate donor and prospect records in Salesforce, and researches prospective donors and funding opportunities. This position supports the acquisition, stewardship, and retention of donors and provides administrative support for development purposes. 

 

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

DEVELOPMENT OPERATIONS:

  • Serves as organization’s primary gift processor: track, monitor, and maintain accuracy of all giving activity in Salesforce
  • Manage database; Record and execute gift acknowledgements in a timely manner through the Salesforce CRM  - gift reporting, database management, and engagement tracking
  • Ensure accurate donor recognition listings for print materials, e-blasts, and website
  • Department liaison with finance consultant, Finance Manager, and Bookkeeper
  • Manage development-related print collateral and supplies
  • Maintain institutional giving calendar, ensuring pertinent information is collected promptly and deadlines are met

DEVELOPMENT COMMUNICATIONS:

  • Write development-related emails and letters; collaborate with Marketing on dissemination of emails
  • Update Development web pages (in collaboration with Marketing Coordinator) including donor and sponsor recognition, and online giving
  • Strategize with Executive Director and Marketing on effective messaging for donor cultivation, solicitation, and acknowledgement
  • Create and generate regular reports on fundraising progress, donor trends, and overall development activity

DONOR RELATIONS:

  • Serve as first point of contact for contributors and sponsors,providing excellent customer service; address general development questions regarding giving levels, benefits, and events
  • In collaboration with the Executive Director, ensure exceptional stewardship of donors including execution and fulfillment tracking of donor benefits 

SPECIAL EVENTS:

  • Coordinate event logistics, including vendor coordination, permits, timelines, contracts, and payments
  • Oversee preparation and execution, including preparing invitations, tracking RSVPs, and on-site assisting with event logistics
  • Some evening and weekend work is required, including SFGC concerts and development events
  • Provide general support for the Executive Director, including other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3 years of professional arts administration and/or Development experience. Background in the performing arts preferred
  • Salesforce knowledge and experience required (creating donor records, data input, pulling lists and reports) 
  • Experience with annual giving and major donors; corporate campaign experience a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher with art administration degree preferred
  • Fluency with Google docs and other computer applications 
  • Skilled in creating compelling written communications
  • Experience in managing special events a plus
  • Self-motivated with attention to detail; takes initiative in problem solving 
  • Work independently as well as on teams 

COMPENSATION AND EMPLOYMENT DETAILS:

This is a full time, exempt position, with the salary range offered between $85K - $100K per year and includes a generous benefits package (4 weeks PTO, Medical, Dental, Vision, and 403B). Hybrid work schedule. Office is based at the Kanbar Center in San Francisco, 44 Page Street.

ABOUT THE SAN FRANCISCO GIRLS CHORUS:

Established in 1978, the San Francisco Girls Chorus prepares young choristers from diverse backgrounds for success, on stage and in life, through rigorous, empowering music education, and enriches Bay Area cultural life through innovative vocal performance.

Each year, more than 450 girls, young women, and gender-expansive youth from 45 Bay Area cities ranging in age from 4-18 participate in the SFGC’s programs. The organization has an annual operating budget of approximately $2.7M, with 8 full time staff, 15 part-time staff, and a board of 10 and growing. Over its 45+ year history, the SFGC has won five GRAMMY Awards, and toured to such illustrious venues as Lincoln Center, the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, and at Carnegie Hall. SFGC is an active collaborator in our vibrant arts community, and performs regularly with premiere organizations such as the San Francisco Opera, San Francisco Symphony, San Francisco Film Festival, and Kronos Quartet.

SFGC owns and operates the Kanbar Performing Arts Center, which has become a hub for small to mid-size arts organizations in the Bay Area. In addition to SFGC’s own rehearsal and performance programs, the Kanbar Center provides long-term leased office space and rehearsal space for a variety of respected arts and culture organizations.
