Trinity Memorial Episcopal Church, Binghamton, NY seeks a highly skilled musician for the half-time position of Music Director to supervise an established and outstanding traditional music program at a medium size parish committed to excellence in music and liturgy. 

 

The candidate would be expected to have earned a degree in music (organ and/or choral conducting), have experience in a church and/or academic setting, and have an ability to relate to people of all ages and backgrounds.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Direct the total music program with the support of the music committee and the approval of the rector. 
  2. Provide organ music for Sunday services and seasonal services.
  3. Prepare the choir to sing service music, hymns, and anthems.
  4. Prepare the bell choir for the presentation of music at occasional Sunday services and holidays.
  5. Supervise the selection and preparation of solos and other instrumental and vocal music for special occasions, holidays and summer coverage.
  6. Prepare introductions, alternate harmonizations and descants for hymns.
  7. Provide music for funerals and weddings as requested at an additional fee.
  8. Supervise the maintenance of all musical instruments.
  9. Maintain and expand the music library. 
  10. Write musical notes for Trinity’s newsletter the Trinity Times.
  11. Plan and present periodic recitals, concerts, and special services, including the coordination of guest artists.
  12. Audition, hire, and supervise paid choral singers.
