POSITION: Director of Membership

REPORTS TO: VP of Communications & Membership

SALARY RANGE: $75K-$85K

PREFERRED START: March 1, 2026

Chorus America connects its members with the people, knowledge, and resources they need to build thriving choruses. As a powerful advocate and convening force, we advance the choral field through research, policy leadership, and artistic and administrative training.

Chorus America serves around 4,000 choruses, individuals, businesses, and organizations nationwide, strengthening singing communities by equipping choral conductors, administrators, board members, and other leaders with essential programs, publications, research, and advocacy services. Through these offerings, we help organizations and leaders create inspiring choral performances and harness the power of group singing to build community.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is an exciting and pivotal moment to join the Chorus America team. The association landscape is changing rapidly. Yet the core values that have always made associations and choral communities essential—connection, trust, artistry, and shared purpose—remain just as vital today.

As Director of Membership, you will help us navigate that balance: honoring what works about traditional membership models while leading the evolution toward what members need next. You will collaborate across teams to deepen and communicate our member value proposition, develop strategies for both retention and new member growth, and use data and insights to guide decision-making. This role is responsible for membership revenue performance and working toward monthly, quarterly, and annual goals across all membership categories.

With this new full-time position, we are aligning our staffing structure with our values—placing membership at the center of our strategy and dedicating focused leadership to best serve the choral community we support. Reporting to the Vice President of Communications and Membership, the Director of Membership will work closely with two additional full-time staff members who support membership as part of their broader portfolios.

This role is ideal for someone who understands both the art and science of membership—someone who believes that human connection, when supported by the right tools and systems, is still the most powerful driver of belonging, learning, and impact.
