Key Responsibilities (Principal Function)

  • Facilitate the collaborative preparation of all regular worship services of the church. This includes weekly planning with the Pastor; drafting services with attention to tradition, inspiration, and innovation; selecting music and preparing participants; coordinating lay leadership; working with music staff to ensure thematic and theological integrity; integrating AFTA leadership; managing logistics such as staging and liturgical setup; and collaborating with media teams for sound, video, and production.
  • Prepare for weekly rehearsal and worship leadership as assigned to the Adult Choir, Youth Choirs (AYC), Children’s Choirs, and Instrumental Groups. Responsibilities include leading rehearsals, maintaining group communication and care, organizing retreats and seasonal events, recruiting and training volunteers, supporting handbell choirs.
  • Supervise the work of the Music Ministry Team. Leads regular meetings with the Associate Director of Worship and Organist and team members to plan and evaluate worship, coordinate schedules, track budgets, manage logistics, and foster new initiatives.
  • Supervise the work of the Music Ministry Assistant (MMA). Maintains daily collaboration with the MMA to guide and oversee administrative tasks such as typesetting, printing, and distribution of worship materials among other duties.
  • Provide music consultation for all church activities as requested. Plans music for special services and events, coordinating soloists, ensembles, accompanists, and other musical leadership as needed.
  • Prepare and administer appropriate ministry budgets. Propose and monitor budgets related to Music Ministry, Visual Arts, Communion, and Baptism, ensuring responsible management of expenditures and special donations.
  • Provide support and direction to standing committees as assigned by the pastor in conjunction with the ministerial staff. Recruits and oversees committee members, collaborates on worship enhancements, and supports planning and implementation for communion, baptism, and visual elements of worship.
  • Participate in pastoral care and new member outreach. Engages in on-call pastoral rotation, connects with prospective members, offers care and counseling, and provides music leadership for funerals as needed.
  • Serve as the Staff Liaison to the Congregational Worship Council. Recruits members, coordinates quarterly meetings, and collaborates with the chairperson to guide worship evaluation and strategic planning.
