Assistant Director of Music Ministries
Position Summary
To promote leadership in developing and implementing the music ministries of First Presbyterian Church, and to actively engage the congregation in worship through music.
Reports To: Director of Music Ministries
Responsibilities
-Serve as assistant to the Director of Music Ministries, including leading choral/instrumental ensembles in the Director’s absence
-Serve as liaison to the Media Ministry as needed
-Direct the Children’s Music Program, including the Children’s Choirs and Vacation Bible School (VBS) music. Oversee volunteers who help with the Children’s Music Program
-Direct the Children’s Music Program, including the Children’s Choirs and Vacation Bible School (VBS) music. Oversee volunteers who help with the Children’s Music Program.
- GOAL to hold children’s anthems in Sunday Service bi-monthly.
-Serve as Co-Director (with the Director of Music Ministries) of the Handbell Choir
-Active member of the Chancel Choir
-Select and purchase children’s music and instruments in accordance with the church budget and in coordination with the Director of Music Ministries
-Catalog and organize the church’s children’s music and instrument collection
-Oversee the care and upkeep of church owned instruments, relative to the Children’s Music Program
-Be an active participant of the Worship Committee
Qualifications
-Faith in Jesus Christ and commitment to the mission of FPCLY
-Bachelor’s degree in music
-Good verbal and written communication skills
-Knowledge of AV/Tech as it relates to Worship
Terms of Employment
Hours: This is a part-time position requiring approximately 10-12 hours a week
Supervision: Director of Music Ministries
Salary: $10,000, annually
